TESLA & CYBERTRUCK FAQS
WILL PPF CHANGE HOW MY TESLA LOOKS?
Not unless you want it to. Our clear PPF is virtually invisible once applied. It preserves your factory paint color and shine while adding a layer of protection you can feel but not see. If you do want a change, we also offer PPF in matte and satin finishes that can shift the look of your Tesla without a full wrap. Either way, the film will not interfere with your sensors, cameras, or Autopilot functionality.
Can I get window tint and PPF together?
Yes, and most of our Tesla clients do exactly that. We recommend bundling both services into a single appointment so your vehicle only needs to be in the shop once. Our Tint + PPF Bundle starts at $7,500 and includes a full ceramic tint package plus front-end or full-body PPF. We will sequence the install properly so each layer cures without interfering with the other.
Is ceramic tint legal in North Carolina?
Ceramic tint is a type of film, not a darkness level, so it is absolutely legal. What matters under North Carolina law is how much light passes through the glass. The state requires a minimum of 35% visible light transmission (VLT) on all side and rear windows. The windshield can only be tinted along the top five inches or above the AS-1 line. As of December 2025, tint is no longer checked during annual safety inspections, but law enforcement can still measure it during a traffic stop. We install every vehicle within legal limits so you never have to worry about a citation.
My Tesla just got delivered — should I do this before driving it?
Ideally, yes. Tesla’s factory paint is thinner and softer than most manufacturers, which means it starts picking up chips and micro-scratches from day one. The sooner PPF goes on, the less correction we need to do before installation. Many of our clients schedule their appointment before delivery and drop the vehicle off the same day they pick it up from Tesla. If you have already been driving it for a while, that is completely fine. We will prep the surface and make sure the paint is clean and corrected before applying any film.
Is Cybertruck's steel body protected differently?
Yes. The Cybertruck’s exposed stainless steel panels do not have a traditional clear coat, which means they react differently to scratches, fingerprints, and environmental staining than painted surfaces. Standard PPF application methods do not translate directly. We use a steel-specific PPF approach that accounts for the texture and adhesion characteristics of bare stainless. The film protects against surface scratches, water spots, and oxidation while keeping the industrial look of the steel intact.
